damn good speech
Maybe it's memory, but I've heard lots of these speeches....from John Kennedy onward (probably President Eisenhower as well, but maybe that's the point where the memory starts to fade) and this was as good as it has been in the last decades. I believe what he says....don't completely agree with all of his ideas (or rather the nuances of his ideas ... for instance, social security). It was a good speech.
I did not listen to the pundits and don't plan to. I thought the chamber was 'forced' by his skill and real concern to actually react to what he said and not so much to their posturing. Good speech.
Damn good speech.

Since I was not alive when Eisenhower was giving speeches I’ll have to take your word for it. However the speeches that I have been privileged to hear, this one was as you so eloquently stated was a "Damn good speech".
ReplyDeleteI however had only one negative criticism of the speech. The subtle reference to curing cancer might have been a little over the top.
“It will launch a new effort to conquer a disease that has touched the life of nearly every American by seeking a cure for cancer in our time”.
Now please understand that I like most Americans have bought a ticket on the Obama train (hell, truth be told I just might be a little gay for this guy) but until he actually walks on water, he might want tamp down the omnipotent references.
But overall “Damm good speech”
A valid point....still, just an "effort".
